Simultaneous consumption of green and black tea infusions from <i>Cnidoscolus aconitifolius</i> leaves with metformin treatment improves the health outcome in type II diabetic rats

The efficacy of concomitant administration metformin and Cnidoscolus aconitifolius (Chaya) teas in type 2 diabetic rat models was evaluated. Diabetic rats were treated for 28 days with infusions green (GTC) black (BTC) chaya teas. Total phenol flavonoid contents, as the antioxidant capacities tea infusions, assessed. Fasting blood glucose (FBG), lipid profile markers hepatic renal functions GTC exhibited highest phenolic best activities. Daily co-administration BTC significantly (p < .05) lowered FBG, triglyceride, total cholesterol, LDL ALT, AST, creatinine urea, well a significant increase serum protein. combination Chaya treatment performed better than taken alone regulating fasting rats, results observed group receiving infusion.
